A Gift of Smiles is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization designed to make a difference in the lives of individuals in our local community with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing access to comprehensive dental healthcare.
Our Beginnings
Conceived in 2014 as an initiative, A Gift of Smiles has now established itself as a non-profit foundation. Its founder and chairman, Dwight Ashby, DDS has been a Pediatric Dentist in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania community for over thirty years. Throughout the years, he witnessed the hardships and barriers families encounter when trying to obtain dental treatment for their loved ones with disabilities.
Through them, Dr. Ashby pursued his dream to close the gaps that exist in dental healthcare for these individuals. Since 2015, A Gift Of Smiles foundation has provided over *$700,000 of dental care to special needs patients in the central Pennsylvania area.
