There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer, each of them as valid as the next. It may be because you have time on your hands, you want to do something worthwhile, or have a particular skill you want to use to benefit those we serve. The most important reason for volunteering is because you want to.
We are always in search of dental professionals in our community who are willing and able to join us in restoring the dental health and dignity to our A Gift Of Smiles patients. Even if you aren’t in the dental profession, we still have other vital volunteer opportunities. Our annual fundraising gala is our main source of operating income and we could use your help—our best ideas and business contacts come from our volunteers!

Types of Volunteers
When it’s easier for patients to obtain care, they get better care.
By working together as dental professionals we can help those in our area who are developmentally or intellectually disabled live life with optimum dental health.
We are looking for volunteer general dentists and specialists in our area! You would provide free or reduced cost dental care for a foundation patient on a case by case basis, based on their needs and your skills/specialty.

We have numerous volunteer opportunities for those who want to help us with our fundraising gala as well as other important duties throughout the year. Volunteer duties vary and you can decide what you would like to do and how much time you would be able to give. Some of our volunteer opportunities include:
- Volunteering as a gala committee member to brainstorm and plan for upcoming events
- Day-of-event assistance
- PR-send out thank you notes to donors, notify local media to cover event (print and television)
- Videography
- Catalog and post donated items for silent and live auction onto auction online bid site
- Prepare printing items or powerpoint presentation for auction
- Community outreach
- Contact and solicit corporate donations via email solicitations
- Grant writing
Qualifications that make a great AGOS volunteer:
- Community oriented
- Self-motivated
- Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- General understanding and support of the Mission, Vision and Values of A Gift Of Smiles
- A caring heart
